Associação Pelas Patas Felizes is a volunteer-run animal protection association based in Sabugal, in the Guarda district. In two years it has completed over 200 rescues and more than 150 adoptions, working with volunteer foster families and partner vets.
Pelas Patas Felizes rescues, treats and protects abandoned animals in the Sabugal region, finding each one a responsible new family.
Founded around 2024, the association grew out of local volunteers responding to abandoned animals in the Sabugal area, combining rescue work with veterinary care, education and positive-training advice.
Sabugal and the surrounding villages in the Guarda district, in central Portugal near the Spanish border.
Mostly cats, many cared for in foster homes, plus a small number of dogs. Each animal is vaccinated, dewormed and, when of age, sterilised before adoption.
